Have A Coat Check
1st November 2011 16:41:05
Having started off the month with unusually hot weather, the temperatures have now certainly dipped and if that wasn’t enough, the rains have come. Autumn is most definitely here and the winter won’t be far behind, and with the coat being the biggest fashion investment for the season, it is time for a coat check.
The cape was a big hit last winter and comes into its own this season. From Native-American inspired ponchos to tweed swing out styles. Balance out your cape’s boxy shape with a sleek bottom half, such as cigarette trousers or a pencil skirt.
If androgyny is your style this season, then steal a coat from the boys. Keep your outfit sleek and tailored to complete you look, or add a touch of femininity with some pop colour.
A belt is a defining accessory for a coat this season. Whether it’s a wrap belted coat with a 70′s edge or one of the many stylish trench coats taking strict lessons from the fetish trend, there are many to choose from to keep your waist nipped in and give you an elegant finish. Make sure to keep those heels in check.
If you want to branch out into something a little different this season, embrace one of the season’s silhouettes – the cocoon coat. The 60′s inspired style suits all shapes and sizes and looks fabulous with flats, as well as towering heels. The cocoon coat is autumn/winter’s key coat for snuggling up in. This coat will be your loudest piece due to its shape, so keep the rest of your clothes simple. For elegant chic team with a tailored dress or trousers and ankle boots.
Fancy some luxe winter cover-up, then go for the faux-fur or super shaggy, perfect from day to night. With fashion feeling as good as it looks this season, textured coat fabrics are the way to go. Balance a voluminous cozy coat with skinny trousers or bare legs if you dare.
